choices and personal eating habits. Covers everything from the
digestive tract and label reading to understanding media
influences on children’s food choices.Teaching material is
only available to workshop participants. Programs can be
organized by schools or divisions for groups of 10 - 35
teachers. Multi-grade workshops (e.g. K-4, 4 – 6, 8 – S2) can
be arranged.

Offers teachers a variety of skill-based ideas to support
nutrition outcomes in Cluster 1.Teaching material is

be arranged.

Gr 6: Powerful Bones |

Helps students understand that bone is living tissue and that
adolescence is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to build
strong bones. Students will learn to assess their own food
intake and activity patterns, then plan and practice lifestyle
choices that help build strong bones.Teaching material is

organized by schools or divisions for groups of 10 - 35
teachers. Multi-grade workshops (e.g. K-4, 4 – 6, 8 – S2) can
be arranged.

Gr 8: Eat, Move and be Healthy |

Combines the messages of healthy eating and regular activity
in topics targeted to younger teens. Student activities and
teacher background information cover healthy weight/body image
and activity/sport nutrition. Students learn through small
group discussion and self assessment.Teaching material is
only available to workshop participants. Programs can be
organized by schools or divisions for groups of 10 - 35
teachers. Multi-grade workshops (e.g. K-4, 4 – 6, 8 – S2) can
be arranged.

Resources for Active Learning (K – Gr 3 PE/Health, Gr 2
Science): Involves students in the discovery of food using all
the senses. Students develop skills to choose healthy,
enjoyable snacks and simple meals through child-centered
nutrition education principles.Teaching material is
only available to workshop participants. Programs can be
organized by schools or divisions for groups of 10 - 35
teachers. Multi-grade workshops (e.g. K-4, 4 – 6, 8 – S2) can
be arranged.

The Adolescent Consumer |

Gives teachers the tools to help students develop
practical nutrition skills. Students will learn to sort fact
from fiction in fast food, use labels to make food choices,
understand the term “lower fat” and know that eating on the
run can be healthy. Nutrition for health promotion & disease
prevention is covered is covered in an adolescent-friendly
fashion.Teaching material is
only available to workshop participants. Programs can be
organized by schools or divisions for groups of 10 - 35
teachers. Multi-grade workshops (e.g. K-4, 4 – 6, 8 – S2) can
be arranged.
