Manitoba Housing administers and manages approximately 13,100 rental housing residences across the province and strives to provide quality housing at an affordable rent to individuals, seniors, and families. Manitoba Housing does not provide emergency housing.|
|Types of Housing
Manitoba Housing provides a range of quality housing such as apartments, townhouses, duplexes and houses. The following are examples of how families are matched to appropriate housing.
Families with Children
Apartments, townhouses and duplexes ranging from 2 to 5 bedrooms have been specifically designated for families. Family members will be considered by age and gender to determine the appropriate number of bedrooms for the family. Manitoba Housing follows National Occupancy Standards
A Single Person or Couples (no children)
Designated locations in the City of Winnipeg have studio apartments for single persons and one-bedroom apartments for couples. In rural communities where the building does not have studio apartments, a single person would receive a one-bedroom apartment.
People 55 and over
Designated locations in the City of Winnipeg have studio apartments that are rented to single persons and one-bedroom apartments are rented to couples.
