Provincial Planning Services
Provincial Planning Services is located in Winnipeg, where staff provide departmental and interdepartmental
coordination on land use matters, advise the Minister and Cabinet on major land use/development
issues, and review, monitor and recommend amendments to planning legislation and related regulations,
such as the Provincial Land Use Policies.
More specifically, Provincial Planning Services is responsible for:
- Monitoring and reviewing planning legislation and regulations including The
Planning Act, The
City of Winnipeg Charter (planning provisions) and associated regulations;
- Reviewing and making recommendations to local government and the Minister on development plans
and development plan amendments;
- Monitoring zoning by-laws;
- Reviewing and monitoring major development proposals; and
- Providing the Provincial Government’s perspective to planning appeal boards.
