• In 2005/2006 there were 5,800 international students in Manitoba's schools and institutions. The economic impact of these students to the Manitoba economy was estimated at $55 million.

• International education is a $2.2 trillion world-wide enterprise, larger than any resource market (Merrill Lynch).
• Less than 1% of Canada's total full-time domestic students (university undergraduate and graduate) go abroad to study. Countries within the European Union have up to 10% of their students studying abroad.
