Key Information

• Location: Our program is located in the heart of the city with easy access to diverse cultural and sporting sites as well as shopping centres and restaurants.
• Accommodation Options: Campus Residence
  Our students are housed in an apartment-style residence located at Place Louis Riel: Place Louis Riel
• Health Insurance Requirement: The DCD Language and Culture Study Abroad Program will purchase Travel health insurance for each student. The "Visitor to Canada Insurance" will cover emergency hospital and medical expenditures for the duration of the three-week program up to $50,000. This does not provide coverage for pre-existing health conditions.
• Student Population: Our program offers a unique linguistic experience for students between 12 and 18 years of age who wish to learn English as a second language in a learning vacation environment.
• Study Periods: Our summer learning vacation program occurs during the last three weeks of July. Please refer to the Website for specific dates.

Institutional Profile

DCD Lanaguage and Culture Study Abroad Program is the only all-inclusive summer ESL program in Manitoba. Our institution offers:

• a summer learning vacation opportunity;
• an academic component including English language classes and enrichment classes;
• a social component including a variety of age-oriented fun activities during the afternoons, evenings and weekends;
• a cultural component including historical tours and diverse entertainment and sporting events;
• a weekend wilderness retreat; and
• instruction by certified teachers.

Program Details

A typical week will include five mornings of English language instruction at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level. In order to facilitate an interactive approach class sizes are small ensuring student participation. Enrichment classes occur three afternoons a week and include a choice of one of the following: History and Architecture, Photography, Canadian Art History, Drama, Canadian Music and Pop Culture. At the end of the three weeks, students will receive a certificate indicating the number of hours of instruction and their grade.

Tuition and Fees

• Application fee: $100. CDN (non-refundable).
• Three-week program cost: $3,400. CDN including housing, two meals a day, full tuition, welcome and farewell receptions, daily excursions and activities and weekend trips.
