Institutional Profile

ICM offers a pathway to the University of Manitoba, specifically designed for international students to undertake the first year of their degree in a supportive learning environment.  The decision for a student to study overseas is a major one and ICM provides the ideal transition to university and to living in a new country.  Students enjoy extensive support both academically and personally, which helps them adjust, make friends and be successful in their university studies in Canada.

ICM offers:

  • Extensive academic and personal support
  • Small classes – approximately 35 students per class - longer contact time with and regular access to instructors
  • Located on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry campus – ICM students have access to university facilities and services including computer labs, libraries, and sports and recreation facilities
  • Access to on-campus  residence or homestay options
  • Extracurricular activities and programs including BBQ’s, ski trips, bowling, soccer, and other social events
  • See what our students say: http://www.icmanitoba.ca/about-icm
  • ICM awards two Academic Merit Scholarships each semester, based on the highest GPA.  Family bursaries are also available where two or more students from the same family study at ICM.

ICM in partnership with the University of Manitoba has been operational since 2008 and attracts a significant number of international students to the Province.

Program Details

  • University Transfer Program Stage I (UTP I): a foundation or pre-university program that prepares students for university-level study. Generally, students who have successfully completed Year 11 (or equivalent) are eligible for this program.  Upon completion, students would enter UTP II, which is equivalent to the first year of the University of Manitoba Bachelor Degree.
  • University Transfer Program Stage II (UTP II):  equivalent to the first year of the University of Manitoba’s undergraduate degree programs.  Upon successful completion of the UTP II program and achieving the required GPA, students are eligible to transfer into the second year of their degree studies at the University of Manitoba.
  • Specific pathway programs are offered to students interested in pursuing UM undergraduate degrees in Business, Engineering, Science, and Arts. ICM’s UTP II program is sufficiently flexible so that successful students may  transfer into any other faculty at the University of Manitoba if they meet the admissions requirements for the chosen faculty.
  • Students who do not meet the English Language requirements for ICM can enter the English Language Centre at the University of Manitoba and complete a language program prior to beginning their studies at ICM.
