- Location: River East Transcona School Division, the second largest public school
division in the province of Manitoba, is centrally located in the quiet, secure
neighbourhoods of northeast Winnipeg near the scenic Red River, with quick, easy
access to downtown

- Health Insurance Requirement: Enrolment in our plan is mandatory.
- Student Population: In total, there are 19,000 students in the 42 schools of
our school division, ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We place students
in our 6 senior high school campuses and our 11 middle schools (junior high schools).
International students aged 10 years and younger are placed in our various 25
early years schools. Enrolment of international students is less than 5% of the
total student population of our schools.
- Study Periods: Full school year (2 semesters - 10 months) or half year
(1 semester - 5 months), beginning in either September or February. International
students can enrol for ESL classes and non-credit senior high courses at any
time during the school year. Short term study programs (minimum 3 months) are
possible as long as students begin their program of studies at the beginning
of a new semester (either in September or February).

Program Details
Each of our 6 high school campuses offers all of the required compulsory courses
for graduation. In addition, international students can choose from a broad array
of innovative, state-of-the-art, highly specialized academic, technological and
vocational course options to focus on their area of interest or enhance their skills
in a specific curricular area.
At the senior high level, some examples include the following specialized courses
and programs:
- Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Programs for students who
demonstrate above average skills. These programs offer opportunities to gain
advanced credit for courses at a postsecondary level. These credits are recognized
internationally.
- We are acknowledged as leaders in curriculum design and development in many
aspects of Information Technology. Some of our unique Information Technology
courses include the following: Website Design and Animation, Multi-Media Production,
Micro-Computer Technician Skills, Hardware Installations, Input/Output Devices,
RAM Installation, and Networking of Digital Devices, to list only a few examples.
- Music Production Technology: Our students have produced and recorded 3 compact
disks [CD's] that have been showcased internationally.
- Dramatic and Visual Arts: Graduates of these River East Transcona high school
programs have become successful professionals in these fields. Some are well-known
across Canada and the USA as performers in major dramatic and musical productions.

Enrollment Information
Minimum English Requirements: None. We accept students with varying levels of
English from novice to advanced levels. We evaluate each student individually for
placement in the appropriate level of the ESL Program. International students are
also integrated directly into the junior or senior high school program with Canadian
students for most of their studies. Advice and assistance is available in our ESL
classes to prepare for TOEFL.
Minimum Academic Requirements: A reasonably high level of academic performance
in the student's home country is recommended. Abilities are assessed on an
individual basis once the student is accepted into the Program.
Transcripts: An original or certified true copy of official transcripts of the
past 2 school years of studies is requested.
Photographs: 3 current, passport-sized photographs should be sent along with the
application.
