
All companies conducting business in Manitoba must be registered under The Corporations Act, administered by Manitoba Consumer and Corporate Affairs.

Turnaround Time: If the company name can be reserved, then the whole process will be completed within 90 days of the "reserving". If the name cannot be reserved, a new name must be chosen and the approval time will progress accordingly.
Any offering of shares as securities to the public must be approved by the Manitoba Securities Commission. This applies to all companies regardless of "where" they are incorporated or registered.
An individual must obtain a prospecting licence. This licence gives you the right to conduct mineral exploration on Crown Lands and to stake claims. An individual must be over eighteen years of age to apply for this lifetime, non-transferable licence.
To Apply: Complete an Application for Prospecting Licence (Form MB1).
A company who intends to apply for or hold a mineral exploration licence (MEL) must apply for a company prospecting licence. It too is a lifetime, non-transferable licence.

Turnaround Time: Same day for company and temporary individual licences; 2-3 weeks for a permanent individual prospecting licence.
