Petroleum Technical Well Files - GISThe Petroleum Branch’s technical well files are now available in Adobe PDF format. These documents include such items as licences, tour reports, Initial Production reports, servicing reports and other technical documents. The pdf’s will be periodically updated and currently include files that were available at the time of last scan (spring 2005). This generally includes licences up to 5367. There will be gaps for wells that were confidential at the time of the last scan. These files may be viewed through the GIS Map Gallery in the Wells Layer on the map. To View the Images: Go to GIS Map Gallery http://www.gov.mb.ca/stem/petroleum/gis/index.html Click on Petroleum GIS Map link Once the map has been displayed, use the zoom in tool ( Place the dot beside the Wells layer in the active layer ( Choose the identify ( After identifying, a “Query/Selection Results” box pops up displaying well information and the technical well file web address in the last column. (usually http://www.gov.mb.ca/stem/petroleum/documents/technical/WELL_LICENCE_NUMBER.pdf). For wells with many images, this may take several minutes. Images can be saved locally at this time. NOTE: Not all images are available, therefore the link will simply be “Not Available” and will result in an error page being displayed. If this occurs you should be able to simply close the window and select another well. Once the pdf opens, select the “Bookmarks” Tab. This will identify the pages by licence, location and image type. For questions regarding use of the Map Gallery please contact: Christine Winter For information regarding the implementation of the images please contact: Paul Legare
