The results of competitive bidding on May 16, 2007 for Crown oil and gas rights which was offered by the Department of Science, Technology, Energy and Mines, resulted in a total of $83,180.86 being added to provincial revenue.

All of the twelve lease parcels offered, covering 714 hectares (1,763.58 acres) were sold for a bonus amount totaling $75,882.00. The average price per hectare for lease parcels sold was $106.28 ($43.03 per acre). The average bonus at the last sale held on February 14, 2007 was $12.11 ($4.91 per acre).

Tundra Oil and Gas Partnership paid the highest price per hectare for a parcel located in the Virden area. The firm paid $251.29 per hectare ($101.74 per acre) as a tender bonus.

This is the second of four sales scheduled for 2007. The next sale will be held on August 15, 2007. The deadline for posting requests is May 18, 2007.

Four sales are scheduled for 2007; February 14, May 16, August 15 and November 14.
