Indigenous and Municipal Relations
Welcome to Municipal Relations
Manitoba Municipal Relations works with municipalities, planning districts, and non-governmental organizations to build and maintain strong, healthy and well-managed communities across our province. Within this framework, Municipal Relations delivers training, ongoing advice, technical analysis, and funding related to local government capacity, land management, community revitalization and infrastructure.
In the interest of supporting the well-being of our residents and communities through robust and effective policies and programs, Municipal Relations promotes intergovernmental relationships and strategic partnerships between and among the provincial government, the Federal government, local governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Of importance is strengthening existing relationships with key stakeholders across our province. We are working directly with the City of Winnipeg, the Association of Manitoba Municipalities (AMM), and non-governmental organizations to establish new funding models, update existing models and streamline the funding application process. We are also working with the AMM and the City of Winnipeg to prioritize major capital projects designed to ensure strong return on investments.
These relationships are critical to achieving sustainable communities and municipalities for a stronger Manitoba.
