What companies produce oil in Manitoba?

Answer:  The top 10 producing companies in Manitoba are Tundra Oil and Gas Ltd., Enerplus ECT Resources Ltd., EOG Resources Canada Inc., Rideau Petroleums Ltd., Canadian Natural Resources Limited, Petrofund Corp., Kiwi Resources Ltd., Zargon Oil & Gas Ltd., Cosens Drilling Limited and Rolland Virtual Business Systems Ltd. Please refer to the Oil Activity Review for a more complete listing of producing companies.

Question:  How much oil is produced in Manitoba and where is it produced?
Answer:  The average oil production in 2005 was 805899.7 m3 - 5,071,123 Barrels.  The month of December 2005 had the highest monthly production on record - 92714 m3 (583,402 Bbls) or 18,819 Bbls per day. Manitoba's oil field includes approximately 1863 producing wells located in southwestern Manitoba from townships 1 through 16 and ranges 20 through 29.  To find out more about Manitoba's oil production please refer to the annual Oil Activity Review.

Answer:  The regulations that govern exploration, drilling and production of oil in Manitoba are the Crown Disposition Regulation , the Crown Royalty and Incentvies Regulation , the Drilling and Production Regulations and the  Geophysical Regulation  all under The Oil and Gas Act   and the Oil and Gas Production Tax Act Regulation under The Oil and Gas Production Tax Act.

Answer: The Petroleum Branch has administrative information including Acts and Regulations, Tables, Graphs & Lists, Bibliography of Manitoba Geology, Core and Sample Information , Digital Information, Geological & Engineering Publications, Geological & Geophysical Data, Printed Maps,  GIS Map Gallery, Technical Well Files in pdf format, Publications & Reports, Designated Field and Pool Booket,  Technical Data Sheets and Well & Reservoir Information and Historical Production Reports,  Depending on information required, this information may be available in paper format, digital format or on the Petroleum Branch website.  There may be a charge for specific information.

Question:  What are the rules regarding confidentiality of information submitted to the Petroleum Branch?
Answer:  Drilling and production confidentiality information can be found in the Drilling and Production Regulations under Part 13 - Release of Information, Section 124. Geophysical information regarding confidentiality can be found in the Geophysical Regulations, Part 4 - Submission of Information and Reports - Section 3 Confidentiality of Information in final report.
