Business Immigration (MPNP-B)

How to Apply for the MPNP-B Program

Step #1

An exploratory visit to Manitoba for a minimum of seven (7) days is required prior to applying under the MPNP-B.  Download the Guide to Making an Exploratory Visit to Manitoba.  Submit the forms and supporting documents as outlined in the Guide to Making an Exploratory Visit to Manitoba to the Business Immigration and Investment Branch, 600 - 259 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada R3B 3P4.

Step #2

After your documents have been pre-screened and, if it appears that you meet the minimum requirements of the program, an invitation letter will be sent requesting you to make an exploratory visit to Manitoba.  If you need to apply for a visitor’s visa to travel to Manitoba, please include the invitation letter when applying for the visa.

Step #3

When you are preparing to schedule your trip to Manitoba (after you have obtained your visitor’s visa if required), contact the Business Immigration and Investment Branch at 204-945-1872, or by email at pnp-b@gov.mb.ca to schedule your exploratory visit.  You are encouraged to attend during one of our regularly scheduled presentation weeks.  Please contact our office at least two weeks prior to your visit to reserve space.  During a presentation week, you will receive detailed information about our program and settlement services and be interviewed by a Business Immigration Officer.

Step #4

Once your exploratory visit to Manitoba is complete, submit a copy of your completed Application Kit along with copies of all required documents. Once your complete application has been received, a confirmation letter with processing times will be provided. (NOTE: Processing does not begin on incomplete applications.)

Step #5

If your application is accepted for nomination, you will be instructed to sign a Cash Deposit Agreement and send a $75,000 cash deposit to the account of the Government of Manitoba, Business Immigration and Investment Branch, Manitoba Competitiveness, Training and Trade.

Step #6

Upon receipt of your Cash Deposit, you will be instructed to submit your original application to the Canadian Visa office that services your area. The Canadian Visa office will receive your application, instruct you on medical examinations, security clearances and, upon favourable results, issue your immigration visa for permanent residency.

Step #7

When you arrive as a Permanent Resident of Manitoba, please contact the Business Immigration and Investment Branch to schedule an appointment to meet with a Business Settlement Officer.

Step #8

You must establish your business and fulfill the investment requirements as outlined in your Cash Deposit Agreement within two years of landing.  Once your investment in the business area you proposed has been verified, your $75,000 Cash Deposit will be returned to you.
