About the Tourism Secretariat

The secretariat oversees development and implementation of the government’s tourism policies and ensures that the province’s investments in tourism contribute to overall policy priorities.

The Tourism Secretariat works with Manitoba’s Crown marketing agency, Travel Manitoba, to facilitate and support the tourism industry’s efforts to strengthen the quality, competitiveness and sustainability of our province’s tourism products and services. Areas of focus in the sector include tourism product development, expansion of business partnerships, marketing and promotion and industry employee training.

The Tourism Secretariat also works in partnership with Manitoba’s regional tourism associations, industry associations and other partners throughout the province to promote tourism product development, enhance visitor services, increase industry employee training and support strategic planning.

Key initiatives of the secretariat include the 2012-2015 Tourism Action Plan, Rural Regional Tourism Initiatives Program, the Star Attractions Program and the Watchable Wildlife Program.
