Over the estimated five-year life of the Red River Floodway Expansion Project, there will be some jobs for people who are now unemployed. There will also be some positions for trainees from Equity Groups (Women, Aboriginals, Visible Minorities and People with Disabilities).
However, it is important to remember that contractors will bring their existing workforce to the project when they start working under contract. If the workload increases or if existing employees leave, contractors will hire new workers.
If you want to gain experience in an occupation or trade, or eventually become a certified journeyperson, now is a good time to take additional skills training to improve your eligibility for work.
