The Wuskwatim Project

Power for Export – Jobs for Manitobans

The Wuskwatim Generating Station is one of the largest construction projects Manitoba has ever undertaken. This 200-megawatt station is being built at Taskinigahp Falls (where Wuskwatim Lake joins the Burntwood River), 45 kilometres southwest of Thompson and 35 kilometres southeast of Nelson House. This new hydro station will generate power for export to markets outside Manitoba.

The construction project will take six years to complete, providing several hundred jobs to qualified workers. The work is fast-paced and focused on meeting construction deadlines. Most jobs are seasonal and employees typically work nine hours a day, six days a week. Workers are paid according to the union contract negotiated for this project.
