When registering with the Wuskwatim Job Referral Service (JRS), you will be asked to provide the following documentation:
- Personal Identification - Any document issued by a government body, confirming name and current address. Acceptable documentation could be a Manitoba Health Card. Information on gender or age is not required.
- Social Insurance Card - A Social Insurance Number (SIN) is required in order to register for work. Applications are available through Service Canada.
- Proof of Northern Residency (as detailed in the Hiring Process) - To be considered for hiring based on residency, northern residents must show evidence that they have lived within the northern employment preference boundary area for at least five years during their lifetime, AND have been living within the boundary area for at least six months prior to registration. Acceptable documentation may include a hydro or phone bill, school or government correspondence that includes the applicant’s name, address and date.
- Proof of Aboriginal Status - If applicable, a beneficiary, Métis or treaty card (Certificate of Indian Status) must be shown.
- Hydro Northern Training and Employment Initiative (HNTEI) - Northern Aboriginals who have had specific Hydro pre-project training require documents to show they have completed the course.
Applicants will also be required to provide evidence of their skills and experience within specific occupations. Acceptable documentation may include education and trade diplomas, equipment training certificates, apprenticeship documents, driver’s licence, first aid certificate, etc. Please do not send original documents by mail – photocopies only. |
