Registration Renewal Requirements

Why Renewing Your Registration is Important | Things to Know | How to Renew Your Registration

Why Renewing Your Registration is Important

To remain eligible for hiring based on where you live, and to indicate your continued interest in being contacted for work, you must renew your registration every six months with the Job Referral Service (JRS) or with an authorized Registration Agency. If you are hired by an employer, your registration will become unavailable in the Job Referral Service system. It is up to you to renew (reactivate) your registration should you wish to be referred out on other employment opportunities.

To keep your registration active, and maintain your status for priority hiring consideration based on where you live, you must confirm or change the following:

  • Your home address and contact phone number
  • Proof that your residency has not changed. This could be a recent copy of a telephone or Hydro bill or a government document showing your name and address.
  • If you have acquired new skills or training, include a copy of the diploma or certificate. The more skills you have, the better your chances are of being referred when an employer needs workers.

Things to Know

  • If your address or phone number has changed, or if you complete a course before your six-month renewal is due, you can contact the JRS and change this information at any time.
  • If you are using a Community or Band Office phone as your contact number, make sure the Office knows, so they can contact you immediately if an employer calls you for a job interview.
  • You can update/renew your registration on-line.  Please select “How to Register for Work” in the menu on the left hand side of this page to find out how to access our on-line application.

How to Renew Your Registration
You can renew your registration on-line, in person, by mail or fax.  Registration packages can be obtained through one of our Employment Manitoba Centres or by downloading the forms from our website. Once your registration has been successfully renewed, a new renewal expiry date will be issued for six months into the future.
