Welcome to the Manitoba Labour and Immigration Website, where you'll find a wide range of information on the Department's programs and services.

Manitoba Labour and Immigration has an important role in furthering the social, economic and cultural well-being of all Manitobans. Our areas of responsibility include labour relations, employment standards, workplace safety and health, immigration, public safety, Manitobans with disabilities, employment pensions and women’s issues.

The Department works to make our province a safer place to work and live by identifying and controlling workplace safety and health hazards; thereby preventing fatalities and reducing workplace injuries and illnesses. To ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably, the Employment Standards Division promotes appropriate terms and conditions of employment for the Manitoba workforce through the establishment of minimum standards and conditions of employment. The Department also works to promote and maintain harmonious labour-management relations in Manitoba by providing conciliation, grievance mediation and preventive mediation services to organized labour and management. The needs and concerns of women are addressed through policy, programs and legislation by Manitoba Status of Women.

The Department also works to increase immigration to Manitoba and to help newcomers make our province their home. The Immigration Division has a leading role in developing policies and programs to promote immigration, such as the Provincial Nominee Program, and coordinating the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees into the social and economic life of Manitoba. As Minister responsible for Persons with Disabilities, I recognize the value and importance of working with the broader community in addressing challenges and fostering positive change. The Disabilities Issues Office consults annually with various disability groups and organizations, in its role of coordinating provincial disability policy and programs.

As we move forward in making Manitoba a better place to work and live, there will be regular updates to our Website. I invite you to visit this site often and hope you find it informative and useful. I welcome your ideas and comments. Please let me know how we can improve this site so that it continues to serve your needs, or if you have any questions about our services. Your comments help us work to serve you better.
