English lessons from Manitoba radio

Listen to learn English and about life in Manitoba

There is a website that uses radio reports about Manitoba to help you learn English.

The website is Learning English with CBC Manitoba.

Each week a new English lesson is added to the website. The lessons involve listening to interviews from the radio show Manitoba This Week, and following instructions on a lesson plan that you can read online or print. You will practise listening, speaking and reading.

For teachers too
There are also lessons that English as an Additional Language (EAL) teachers may use in their classrooms.

All lessons are based on unedited radio interviews. This lets students hear authentic speech – including all the idioms, slang and cultural references found in everyday conversations.

Learn about Manitoba
These lessons give you the chance to improve your English while learning more about Manitoba's culture, people and language.

Whether you are living in Manitoba now or are thinking about making Manitoba your new home we hope you enjoy Learning English with CBC Manitoba.

This website is a project of CBC Manitoba and the Adult Language Training Branch of Manitoba Immigration and Multiculturalism.

The CBC is the radio and TV network funded by the Canadian government to serve all parts of the country. The language training branch organizes and supports the "English as an Additional Language" programs offered free to people who immigrate to Manitoba.
