Immigration Service Continuum

Employer Supports

Recognizing the vital role that employers play in our province's labour market-driven immigration strategy, Manitoba Immigration and Economic Opportunities assists employers with recruitment and retention of skilled immigrant workers. Employers can contact our Manitoba Immigration Information Services staff at 204-945-6300 for general information about how they can better access skilled immigrant workers already in Manitoba as well as overseas.

To help employers tap the talent pool of newly arrived immigrants, job-matching, information and referral services are provided by Manitoba Start. To address retention issues and improve workplace culture, Manitoba Start also delivers programming called Diversity and Intercultural Training.

The department helps employers address skill and labour shortages through the recruitment of provincial nominees and temporary foreign workers, when local labour is not available.  For this purpose Manitoba holds labour mobility agreements with official employment agencies in countries including the Philippines, Iceland, France and Germany.

Customized language training in the workplace is also provided through English At Work.
