November 1, 2017 – WSH Email Phishing Scam Alert
Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) are aware that there have been several recent attempts to impersonate WSH over email. These emails are requesting employers to provide information to WSH in order to update information in their system. This practice is known as Phishing. Phishing is the act of sending an e-mail to a user while falsely claiming to be an established, legitimate organization in an attempt to defraud the user into surrendering private information that will be used for fraudulent purposes. If you receive an e-mail allegedly from Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health asking for this type of information, you SHOULD NOT respond to it. Do not open any attachments or click on any links within the email as they may compromise your computer network.
