The following petition was presented:

Mrs. Driedger (Charleswood) – Minister of Justice encourage the Government of Manitoba to continue partnering with schools and law enforcement to ensure Winnipeg Police Athletic Clubs provide recreational and athletic activities. (M. Mcwilliams, S. Rempel, J. Turner and others)

The following petition was read and received:

Mrs. Dacquay (Seine River) – Minister of Justice make certain that the Government of Manitoba continue to partner with schools and law enforcement to ensure Winnipeg Police Athletic Clubs provide recreational and athletic activities. (K. Ritchie, A. Syrota, A. Matiowsky and others)

Hon. Ms. Barrett, the Minister of Labour made a statement regarding the Pioneers 2000 Conference held on May 4 to 6, 2000,

Mrs. Dacquay, and by leave, Hon. Mr. Gerrard commented on the statement.

By leave, Mr. Reimer introduced Bill (No. 200) – The Lotteries Accountability and Consequential Amendments Act/Loi sur l'obligation redditionnelle en matière de loteries et modifications corrélatives, and outlined the purposes thereof, it was read a First Time.

Pursuant to Rule 23(1), Messrs. Derkach, Smith (Brandon West), Penner (Steinbach), Rondeau and Hon. Mr. Gerrard made Members’ Statements.

Hon. Mr. Selinger moved:

THAT this House approve in general the budgetary policy of the government.

The debate was, on motion of Mr. Stefanson, adjourned.

On motion of Mr. Selinger:

ORDERED that this House, at its next sitting, will resolve itself into a Committee to consider of the Supply to be granted to Her Majesty.

On motion of Hon. Mr. Selinger:

ORDERED that this House, at its next sitting, will resolve itself into a Committee to consider of Ways and Means for raising of the Supply to be granted to Her Majesty.

Hon. Mr. Selinger delivered to Mr. Speaker two messages from His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Manitoba as follows:

Lieutenant Governor

The Lieutenant Governor transmits to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, estimates of sums required for the services of the province for the fiscal year ending the 31st day of March 2001 and recommends these Estimates to the Legislative Assembly.

The Lieutenant Governor transmits to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, estimates of sums required for the services of the province for capital expenditures, and recommends these Estimates to the Legislative Assembly.
