Wednesday, June 21, 2000 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF MANITOBA VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS No. 49FIRST SESSION, THIRTY-SEVENTH LEGISLATURE PRAYERS 1:30 O’CLOCK P.M. Mr. Santos, Chairperson of the Committee of Supply, reported progress having been made on June 20, 2000. IN THE COMMITTEE In the section of the Committee of Supply sitting in the Chamber, on Tuesday, June 20, 2000, considering the estimates of the Department of Agriculture and Food, Mr. Laurendeau moved a motion "THAT the Committee do now adjourn". A voice vote was held, whereupon a counted vote was requested and Members sitting in Room 254 and Room 255 returned to the Chamber. A counted vote was held on the motion, which was defeated (43-0). Report was received and the Committee of Supply obtained leave to sit again. ______________________________ Hon. Mr. Robinson, the Minister of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs, made a statement regarding National Aboriginal Day, June 21, 2000, Mr. Pitura commented on the statement. ______________________________ By leave, Hon. Mr. Mackintosh introduced Bill (No. 32) – The Victims' Rights Amendment Act/Loi modifiant la Loi sur les droits des victimes, and outlined the purposes thereof, it was read a First Time. (Recommended by His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor) ______________________________ Hon. Mr. Mackintosh presented: Message from His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor recommending the disposition of public revenue for Bill (No. 32) (Sessional Paper No. 168) ______________________________
During Oral Questions, Hon. Mr. Mackintosh rose on a point of order regarding the word "hypocrite" spoken by the Honourable Member for Lac du Bonnet and requested it be withdrawn. And Messrs. Laurendeau and Praznik and Hon. Mr. Mackintosh having spoken to the point of order, WHEREUPON Mr. Speaker informed the House he would take the matter under advisement. ______________________________ Subsequently during Oral Questions, Hon. Mr. Mackintosh rose on a point of order regarding the orderliness of a question posed by Hon. Mr. Gerrard. And Hon. Mr. Gerrard and Mr. Laurendeau having spoken to the point of order, WHEREUPON Mr. Speaker informed the House he would take the matter under advisement. ______________________________ Pursuant to Rule 23(1), Messrs. Penner (Steinbach) and Rondeau, Mrs. Smith (Fort Garry), Mr. Jennissen and Hon. Mr. Gerrard made Members’ Statements. ______________________________ Mr. Speaker having left the Chair and the House resolving itself into a Committee to consider of the Supply to be granted to Her Majesty; And the House continuing in Committee. ______________________________ The House then adjourned at 6:01 p.m. until 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000.
