Mr. Martindale, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Law Amendments presented its Fourth Report, which was read as follows:

Your Committee met on Monday, July 17, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 255 of the Legislative Building to consider Bills referred.

Your Committee heard representation on Bills as follows:

      Bill (No. 41) – The Balanced Budget, Debt Repayment and Taxpayer Protection Amendment and Consequential Amendments Act/Loi modifiant la Loi sur l'équilibre budgétaire, le remboursement de la dette et la protection des contribuables et modifications corrélatives

Your Committee has considered:

      Bill (No. 41) – The Balanced Budget, Debt Repayment and Taxpayer Protection Amendment and Consequential Amendments Act/Loi modifiant la Loi sur l'équilibre budgétaire, le remboursement de la dette et la protection des contribuables et modifications corrélatives

and has agreed to report the same without amendment.

On motion of Mr. Martindale, the Report of the Committee was received.

Ms. Korzeniowski, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of Supply, presented the Report of the Proceedings of the Committee of July 17, 2000 as follows:

IN THE COMMITTEE

The following Resolution was adopted:

21.3 RESOLVED that there be granted to HER MAJESTY a sum not exceeding SIXTY-FOUR MILLION, THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS for HEALTH:

EXTERNAL PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS $64,035,700.00

for the fiscal year ending the 31st day of March, 2001.

Resolution was reported.

Report was received and the Committee of Supply obtained leave to sit again.

ORDERED that the composition of the Standing Committee on Public Utilities and Natural Resources be amended as follows:

THAT Bill (No. 6) – The Water Resources Conservation and Protection and Consequential Amendments Act/Loi sur la conservation et la protection des ressources hydriques et modifications corrélatives, be now read a Second Time and be referred to a Committee of this House.

And the debate continuing,

And leave having been denied to have the matter remain in the name of Mr. Maguire,

And Messrs. Enns, Faurschou and Loewen having spoken,

And the Question being put. It was agreed to, on division.

The Bill was accordingly read a Second Time and referred to a Committee of this House.

THAT Bill (No. 21) – The Water Resources Administration Amendment Act/Loi modifiant la Loi sur l'aménagement hydraulique, be now read a Second Time and be referred to a Committee of this House.

And leave having been denied to have the matter remain in the name of Mr. Maguire,

And Mr. Enns having spoken,

And the Question being put. It was agreed to.

The Bill was accordingly read a Second Time and referred to a Committee of this House.

By unanimous consent, the sequence for consideration of estimates, as outlined in Sessional Paper No. 138 tabled on May 17, 2000, and subsequently amended, was further amended in order that Aboriginal and Northern Affairs be considered in Room 254 for Tuesday, July 18, 2000 only.

Pursuant to Rule 12(5), Mr. Speaker appointed Mr. Nevakshonoff, the Honourable Member for Interlake, Mr. Rondeau, the Honourable Member for Assiniboia and Mr. Struthers, the Honourable Member for Dauphin-Roblin, Deputy Chairpersons of the Committee of Supply for Tuesday, July 18, 2000, only.
