Tuesday, April 10, 2001 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF MANITOBA VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS No. 10SECOND SESSION, THIRTY-SEVENTH LEGISLATURE PRAYERS 1:30 O'CLOCK P.M. Immediately following Prayers, Mr. Penner (Emerson) rose on a matter of privilege and moved: THAT on Tuesday next, the ordinary business of the House be set aside to debate the socio-economic crisis rural Manitoba communities are experiencing due to the ongoing impact of the downturn in the grains, oilseeds and specialty crops sectors and the resultant negative impact on rural businesses, industries and communities alike. And Hon. Messrs. Mackintosh and Gerrard, Mr. Laurendeau and Hon. Mr. Lathlin, the Minister of Conservation made a statement regarding the flood outlook for southern Manitoba, Mr. Cummings and, by leave, Hon. Mr. Gerrard commented on the statement. ______________________________ Mr. Speaker presented: Annual Report of the Provincial Ombudsman for the year ending December 31, 1999. (Sessional Paper No. 94) ______________________________ By leave, it was agreed to postpone Members' Statements until April 11, 2001, with the understanding that the rotation process will remain the same as set out for Tuesday. ______________________________ Hon. Mr. Selinger moved: THAT this House approve in general the budgetary policy of the government. And a debate arising, And Hon. Mr. Selinger having spoken, The debate was, on motion of Mr. Murray, adjourned. ______________________________ On motion of Hon. Mr. Selinger: ORDERED that this House, at its next sitting, will resolve itself into a Committee to consider of the Supply to be granted to Her Majesty. ______________________________ On motion of Hon. Mr. Selinger: ORDERED that this House, at its next sitting, will resolve itself into a Committee to consider of Ways and Means for raising of the Supply to be granted to Her Majesty. ______________________________ Hon. Mr. Selinger delivered to Mr. Speaker two messages from His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Manitoba as follows: PETER LIBA Lieutenant Governor The Lieutenant Governor transmits to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, estimates of sums required for the services of the province for the fiscal year ending the 31st day of March 2002 and recommends these Estimates to the Legislative Assembly.
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA April 10, 2001 (Sessional Paper No. 95) PETER LIBA Lieutenant Governor The Lieutenant Governor transmits to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, estimates of sums required for the services of the province for capital expenditures, and recommends these Estimates to the Legislative Assembly. WINNIPEG, MANITOBA April 10, 2001 (Sessional Paper No. 96) ______________________________ On motion of Hon. Mr. Selinger, the said messages, together with the Estimates accompanying the same, were referred to the Committee of Supply. ______________________________ Hon. Mr. Mackintosh moved: THAT this House do now adjourn. And the Question being put.
