Monday, May 7, 2001 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF MANITOBA VOTES AND PROCEEDINGS No. 25SECOND SESSION, THIRTY-SEVENTH LEGISLATURE PRAYERS 1:30 O'CLOCK P.M. The following petitions were presented: Mr. Loewen – Legislative Assembly of Manitoba request that the Premier of Manitoba consider reversing his decision to not support construction of an underpass at Kenaston and Wilkes (G. Stefanson, S. Stefanson, E. Stefanson and others) Mr. Schuler – Legislative Assembly of Manitoba request that the Minister responsible for Manitoba Hydro consider alternative routes for the additional 230KV and 500KV lines proposed for the RM of East St. Paul (C. Bachinski, B. Kiely, C. Provals and others) ______________________________ Mr. Santos, Chairperson of the Committee of Supply, presented the Report of the Proceedings of the Committee of May 3, 2001 as follows:
IN THE COMMITTEE The following Resolutions were adopted: 10.1 RESOLVED that there be granted to HER MAJESTY a sum not exceeding FOUR MILLION, NINE THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for INDUSTRY, TRADE AND MINES: ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE $4,009,500.00 for the fiscal year ending the 31st day of March, 2002. 10.5 RESOLVED that there be granted to HER MAJESTY a sum not exceeding FIFTEEN MILLION, NINETY-THREE THOUSAND, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for INDUSTRY, TRADE AND MINES: MANITOBA RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY $15,093,100.00 for the fiscal year ending the 31st day of March, 2002. 10.6 RESOLVED that there be granted to HER MAJESTY a sum not exceeding FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY-SIX THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS for INDUSTRY, TRADE AND MINES: AMORTIZATION OF CAPITAL ASSETS $526,700.00 for the fiscal year ending the 31st day of March, 2002. Resolutions were reported. Report was received and the Committee of Supply obtained leave to sit again. ______________________________ By leave, Hon. Ms. McGifford introduced Bill (No. 17) – The Student Aid Act/Loi sur l'aide aux étudiants, and outlined the purposes thereof, it was read a First Time. (Recommended by His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor) ______________________________ Hon. Ms. McGifford presented: Message from His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor recommending the disposition of public revenue for Bill (No. 17). (Sessional Paper No. 136) ______________________________
Pursuant to Rule 23(1), Ms. Allan, Mr. Helwer, Ms. Asper, Messrs. Rocan and Aglugub made Members' Statements. ______________________________ By leave, it was agreed to waive Private Members' Business for Monday, May 7, 2001 only. ______________________________ By unanimous consent, the sequence for consideration of estimates, as outlined in Sessional Paper No. 113 tabled on April 23, 2001, was further amended in order that Transportation and Government Services be considered in Room 255 once Finance has concluded. ______________________________ By unanimous consent, it was agreed that the section of the Committee of Supply, sitting in Room 255, be allowed to adjourn at 5:30 p.m. for Monday, May 7, 2001. ______________________________ Mr. Speaker having left the Chair and the House resolving itself into a Committee to consider of the Supply to be granted to Her Majesty; And the House continuing in Committee. ______________________________ The House then adjourned at 6:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001.
