The following petition was presented:

 

Mr. Schuler – Legislative Assembly of Manitoba request the Minister of Education to reverse the decision to split the Transcona-Springfield School Division and allow it to remain as a whole or to consider immediately convening the Board of Reference to decide the matter. The following petition was read and received:

Hon. Mr. Mackintosh moved:

THAT Bill (No. 14) – The Public Schools Modernization Act (Public Schools Act Amended)/Loi sur la modernisation des écoles publiques (modification de la Loi sur les écoles publiques), be now read a Third Time and passed.

And a debate arising,

And Hon. Mr. Mackintosh, Messrs. Murray, Schuler, Pitura, Maguire and Faurschou, Hon. Mr. Gerrard, Messrs. Derkach and Gilleshammer having spoken,

And Hon. Mr. Caldwell speaking,

 

And during the debate, Mr. Gilleshammer rose on a point of order requesting the Honourable Minister of Education and Training to provide information about whether or not the Honourable Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs had changed her thoughts about the schools amalgamation.

 

And Hon. Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Tweed having spoken to the point of order,

WHEREUPON Mr. Speaker ruled that there was no point of order,

From his decision, Mr. Laurendeau appealed to the House,

And the Question being put. "Shall the ruling of the Chair be sustained?"
