Biography

In 1995 Stan Struthers was first elected as the MLA for Dauphin. He was re-elected in 1999 and again in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 general elections.

On November 4, 2003, Stan was sworn in as the Minister of Conservation and on November 3, 2009 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives by Premier Selinger. He was appointed Minister of Finance on October 19, 2011
 
Stan holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from Brandon University and a Masters of Education from the University of Manitoba. His teaching career included positions at the Norway House Cree Nation, Swan Valley, Rorketon Collegiate and Winnipegosis High School.

He has served on many NDP policy committees including Family and Social Policy, Agriculture and Education. He was the Legislative Assistant to the Minister of Health, the Honourable Dave Chomiak from 1999 to 2003.  He was also the Chair of the All Party Task Force on Environmental Tobacco Smoke.

Stan was born in Swan River, raised and educated in several rural towns in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  He lives in Dauphin with his wife Michelle and his son Alex.
