Highway Structures

The Structures Branch is responsible for bridges and structures in the transportation and agricultural drainage network. They design, build, inspect and maintain the structures. They also carry out research, planning, programming and emergency response activities.

Total number of  provincial structures on highway and water control networks:  ~  3,000

Estimated replacement value for these structures:  $8 billion

Breakdown 

Number of structures on highway network (PTHs and PRs):  2,355

Number of bridges and overpasses:   1,150

Number of large diameter culverts:  1,100

Number of overhead sign structures:   105
