Community Initiatives

Applications are being accepted from eligable organizations for one-time funding through multiple programs for projects that will be completed by March 31, 2018. For this intake, across all programs priority will be given to projects that focus on the following:
 
Accessibility - Addressing and reducing barriers to participation for Manitobans regardless of where they live, their age, gender, cultural background, sexual identity, physical or mental ability or income.
 

Green Spaces & Active Transportation - Maximizing the use of parks, playgrounds, trails and pathways through planning and program opportunities.

 
Newcomers - Addressing the unique needs of immigrants and refugees, buildings on and encouraging involvement in the community.
 
Projects that involve partnerships with two or more stakeholders or demonstrate broad community support will receive additional priority consideration.

The Community Initiatives (CI) program supports projects that have a broad effect on Winnipeg's inner city or target specific groups across the inner city. It funds activities that enhance economic development, increase safety and prevent crime, reduce at-risk behaviour, contribute to better health practices, strengthen tenant-landlord relations and improve coordination and cooperation.
 

Where is the program available?

An initiative under this program must involve more than one designated Neighbourhoods Alive! inner city neighbourhood in Winnipeg and can include inner city neighbourhoods not currently designated by Neighbourhoods Alive!

The applicant must be an incorporated not-for-profit organization whose overall purpose is to improve the quality of life in Winnipeg's inner city.

What levels of funding are involved?

Funding is variable and depends on the scale and anticipated results of the proposed project. Project requests of above $5,000 are eligible for support through the Community Initiatives Program.

Applications to the Community Initiatives Program must be submitted by e-mail to Neighbourhoods Alive! before the deadline date.
 
Please note: Once Neighbourhood Alive! receives your complete application package you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application within 48 hours after the intake deadline of September 11, 2017. If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact our Winnipeg office.
