Guide to Municipal Amalgamation
The Guide to Municipal Amalgamation: Developing your Amalgamation Plan was distributed to all municipalities on January 31, 2013.
The Guide addresses the key components of an amalgamation and is intended to assist municipalities in making the important decisions necessary to create a new, amalgamated municipality.
The Guide provides practical information and advice to municipal councils about options that may be considered for how their amalgamated municipality will be governed and how it will function. It also highlights decisions that can be made after the amalgamated municipality is created and has functioned for a period of time.
The Guide also includes a template Amalgamation Plan and an Amalgamated Tax Comparator Worksheet.
