Community Networking Grant for Women

The Manitoba Women’s Advisory Council (Status of Women) is seeking applicants from organizations or individuals for its Community Networking Grants for Women. This pilot project was inspired by community consultations on women’s health held across the province to provide input to the renewed Women’s Health Strategy. This pilot project aims to fulfill objectives of the WHS, including enabling women to gather, support each other, and build community networks and community spaces.

Five grants of up to $1000 will be awarded during this 1 year pilot project.  Women in rural, remote and northern communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Funds can be used to rent community space, purchase refreshments, pay honorariums for speakers, presenters or facilitators, follow-up communication, and to cover child care and transportation costs. Funds may also be used to cover staff costs associated with organizing the event.

Eligibility Requirements

Funding will be provided to groups without access to significant core funding and with a focus on improving the lives of women.  All activities must be community based.  Groups do not have to be formal organizations to apply, however they may need to form a connection with an organization or agency in order to access the funding. Attention will be paid to equitable distribution among rural and northern communities.

Post – Gathering / Event Reporting Requirements

  • Brief account of the gathering / event, including the number of participants in attendance
