Taking the Lead: Women Who Have Made a Difference in Manitoba

The Parenting on Your Own Handbook (ninth edition, 2009)

This guide advises single parents of their rights and lists services and supports that are available in the community, such as housing, income, child care and legal services. It is an excellent resource for anyone accessing services in Manitoba.

Tips for Working Alone: Keeping Safe at Work (pdf)
This book provides some basic tips about keeping safe at work. It also explains what employers are required to do to protect employees from experiencing violence.

Manitoba's communities are, on the whole, safe places in which to live and work. However, a first-ever study of its kind released in February 2007 revealed that nearly one-fifth of all incidents of violent victimization occurred in the victim's workplace.

Taking Action Against Violence
This comprehensive guide is designed to help service providers support women who have experienced abuse. It addresses guidelines and services in the fields of criminal justice, social services, health, housing and education to help victims and, ultimately, end domestic violence. It contains valuable information for service providers and sets out the initiatives and changes that have been implemented to support zero tolerance. Originally developed in 1995, this guide was updated in 2007.
