Manitoba Healthy Living Web site

Healthy living is about creating conditions and supporting behaviours that promote the best possible health choices for everyone. It is a shared responsibility and everyone has a role to play. By making healthier choices daily and working together to creat environments that support health, we can reduce our risk for illness and injury.

Manitoba in Motion

In motion is a provincial strategy to help all Manitobans make physical activity part of their daily lives for health and enjoyment. Our vision is to make Manitobans healthier by increasing physical activity in the province by 10 per cent by the year 2010.

Mental Health Education Resource Centre

Mental Health Education Resource Centre (MHERC) provides materials (books, journals, pamphlets, cd roms, presentation kits, videos and articles) on mental health and mental illness to service providers, consumers, families, natural supports, caregivers, educators and the general public. The Centre has a virtual resource centre on its website, as well as a lending library which is free of charge for all Manitobans.

Protect Your Noggin

Bike riding is a great way to enjoy the fresh air and to get exercise. It’s a fun and healthy way of getting around the neighbourhood, the city or even the country. But cycling has its risks. Most often, bike crashes cause nothing more than scrapes and bruises. But sometimes bones are broken and head injuries can occur. Every year in Manitoba, about 150 cyclists are hospitalized and several are killed. But many bike-related injuries can be prevented or protected against. There are many ways to be safer while cycling. The whole family can learn and practice good cycling habits.
