Caregiving

A caregiver is a person who provides informal and unpaid personal care, support or assistance to another person because that other person has an age-related illness, disability or challenge. Informal caregivers play a key role in helping care receivers to age in place and remain in their homes and communities for as long as possible.

Resources and Information:

The Caregiver Advisory Council provides the minister with information, advice and recommendations about

  • caregivers and caregiver supports;
  • programs, services, policies and legislation that relate to caregivers and caregiver supports; and
  • promoting recognition and awareness of caregivers.
