MANITOBA ASSOCIATION OF MULTI-PURPOSE SENIOR CENTRES (MAMSC)

MAMSC is the unifying agent of senior centres in Manitoba and represents 18 senior centres throughout the province. MAMSC represents over 10,000 members/clients and countless more users of senior centres.

What are Multi-purpose Senior Centres?

Multi-purpose Senior Centres are health promoting, capacity - building, and community focal
points wherein older persons come together to take part in services and activities that help enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement within the community. They also provide programs that offer core health services.

The Centres are governed by a community-based board of directors who respond to the diverse needs of older persons, hire professionals, provide education and develop innovative programming approaches. They are an invaluable community resource for information on aging and are open to all individuals 55 years and older, or retired.

Mission Statement

"The Association will provide a forum to facilitate communication, sharing and planning among Multi-Purpose Senior Centres as they provide services to Manitoba's Aging population. The Association will provide a provincial focus for Multi-Purpose Senior Centres by raising their profile
in a positive manner."
