Environmental Industries – Sector Summary
This site provides industry sector summaries of environmental industries which include those companies who produce goods and services related to measuring, preventing, limiting or correcting environmental damage to water, air, soil, as well as problems related to waste, noise and eco-systems. The industry also includes companies developing or marketing resource-efficient technologies that reduce material inputs, energy consumption, emissions and waste, when compared to traditional technologies.

Manitoba Clean Environment Commission
The CEC is an arms-length provincial agency that encourages and facilitates public involvement in environmental matters and offers advice and recommendations to the Minister of Conservation with respect to environmental issues, project approvals and environmental licenses.
Manitoba Innovation Framework
The purpose of the Innovation Framework is to foster an environment favourable for sustainable economic growth, job creation and quality of life for Manitobans by enhancing the innovative capacity of all participants in the economy.
Emergency Measures Organization (EMO)

Covering New Ground – Sustainable Agricultural Initiative
This program provides funding to Manitoba producer groups and provincial commodity organizations to carry out sustainable agriculture demonstration or technology transfer projects throughout the province.
Canada-Manitoba Environmental Farm Program
The Canada-Manitoba Environmental Farm Plan program is designed to encourage Manitoba agricultural producers to evaluate their operations, develop environmental action plans and adopt beneficial management practices (BMPs) that will further contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment and enhance agricultural sustainability.

The purpose of this site is to assist Manitoba Teachers to integrate sustainability topics/issues/approaches into their classroom activities. ESD involves preparing students to live sustainably and to establish life-long sustainable development practices.
Manitoba Water Stewardship Fisheries Branch
Manitoba Fisheries, in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans

Manitoba Remote Sensing Centre Conducts digital image processing of satellite data for resource studies, inventories, and environmental monitoring. The Centre also operates the Canadian World Crop Monitoring Program and the Canadian Global Change Program. Other services include consulting, R&D, education, technology transfer, mapping, and equipment rental.

Pollution Prevention Branch
The Pollution Prevention Branch promotes and regulates pollution prevention initiatives, and supports these initiatives through grant funding programs. Manitoba Conservation Water Efficiency Program
Manitoba Conservation promotes the efficient use of water. Using water efficiently will conserve water and energy, prevent water pollution at source and reduce costs associated with the expansion of municipal water distribution and wastewater treatment systems. Manitoba's strategy builds upon the National Action Plan to Encourage Municipal Water Use Efficiency approved by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment in May 1994.

Resource Conservation Manitoba
RCM offers FREE classroom presentations for public schools in Winnipeg, through the Environmental Speakers Bureau (ESB). The presentations cover recycling, composting and other resource conservation topics. Teachers outside Winnipeg can order a resource kit containing presentation scripts, backgrounders, activity ideas and reproducible handouts.
