Manitoba has:
Manitoba has not seen an increase for this particular client group in ten years and expect this trend of low or no rate increases to continue. Virtually all of the electricity Manitoba Hydro supplies comes from hydroelectric generation -- a clean, renewable source of energy. The electrical generating system has been designed to produce sufficient electricity even if the lowest water flows on record should occur. The rivers in northern Manitoba that power the generators have more than twice the hydroelectric potential of Niagara Falls. To date only 50 percent of the northern generation potential has been harnessed. Manitoba's abundance of renewable hydroelectric resources and strong interconnections ensure a stable, reliable and cost-effective supply of electricity long into the future. |

In addition to electric power, Manitoba Hydro is also the local distributor of natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout the province. The combination of both electric and gas utilities allows Manitoba Hydro to provide one-stop energy solutions to customers.
Manitoba has many other important business attributes. Our strategic location at the end end of the mid-continent trading corridor stretching into Mexico, a stable and diversified economy, leading edge transportation and communication networks and a dedicated, loyal workforce sets us apart from other jurisdictions. New York based Moody's Investment Services, recently ranked Winnipeg as the most diverse economic centre in the country.
High productivity and access to a skilled and reliable workforce help Manitoba's manufacturing exports to grow and encourage export driven expansion. As well, the cost of living in Manitoba is among the lowest in the country.
