Manitoba Prospectors Assistance Program (MPAP)

MPAP offers $125,000 annually to encourage mineral prospecting in the province.

  • MPAP provides grants to prospectors exploring on either their own properties or open Crown mineral land.

  • Qualified applicants can receive 50% of approved eligible costs to a maximum of $7,500 per fiscal year, upon completion of the field projects and submission of an acceptable technical report.

  • Qualified applicants with projects in remote areas can also receive 80% of approved charter air transportation in Manitoba to a maximum of $1,500.

  • Maximum grant of $9,000 per applicant per year.

  • Applicants must hold a Manitoba Prospecting Licence, be self-employed, experienced prospectors, and have a bona fide prospecting project within Manitoba.

  • Applicants must have a prospecting target that includes rocks or minerals other than crushed rock for construction purposes, sand, gravel, natural gas and petroleum.

Applications for summer projects must be submitted between April 1 and May 15, or between November 1 and December 15 for winter projects.
