Database
The TGI database comprises geological picks derived from most of
the drillholes penetrating the Devonian and deeper horizons and from
selected wells, averaging 5 wells per township in densely drilled
areas, penetrating Mississippian- and Mesozoic-aged rocks. The final
database contains information from a total of 9012 wells, which
includes 5046 wells from Saskatchewan, 2606 wells from Manitoba, and
for map edge accuracy, 771 wells from North Dakota and 589 from
Montana. These picks were used to create the geological maps,
hydrogeological maps and model (in progress), and the 3-D basin
model (in progress).
The Excel version of the database has been broken down into three
separate files, one for the Mesozoic data, one for the Mississippian
and Devonian data, and one for the Lower Paleozoic (Silurian to
Precambrian) data. The user is refered to the
TGI Stratigraphic Column for a complete listing of
formation/member names and correlations.

Miscellaneous Database Notes
- Each well has a NAD 83 longitude and
latitude. An accompanying UTM is also available, however please
note that the UTM are in NAD 83, Zone 14.
- All the picks shown in this database were
verified and/or picked by the TGI project geologists.
- The Source refers to the jurisdiction from
which the wells originate:
• SK: Saskatchewan
• MOGWIS: Manitoba Oil and Gas Well Information System
• MSD: Manitoba Stratigraphic Database
• ND: North Dakota
• MT: Montana
The preliminary database is currently available in
Excel for free download. A true searchable database will be coming
soon.
