Accredited Pre-Apprenticeship/Pre-Employment Trade Programs
The Apprenticeship Branch recognizes trades-related courses or programs of study offered by other training institutions, colleges and high schools. Students who take accredited courses can, within a specified time period, apply their course credits towards the technical training requirements of full-time apprenticeship training.
Schools that offer accredited programs have met Apprenticeship standards that include program content, facilities, equipment and quality of instruction. To ensure that training is current and continually updated, an institution's Certificate of Accreditation is valid for a three-year period. Then an application for accreditation must be resubmitted. Note: Although these types of programs may offer prospective apprentices an opportunity to learn more about the trade in a classroom setting, students enrolled in colleges/training centres with accredited programs will be required to pay tuition fees that are different from apprenticeship fees and vary between schools.
