Accommodations

Accommodations can include private homes, rooming and boarding houses or college dormitories. Pick up a Home Renters Guide, free at most convenience stores, or visit the following web sites:

Thompson Campus provides a co-ed residence adjacent to the campus. The Residence Complex provides basic rooms for students. Pillows and bedding are not supplied. Residential floors have common washrooms and showers. Other facilities available to student residents include a kitchenette, laundry room, a student lounge and recreation area. Transportation and Parking

Parking spaces are available each term and can be purchased from the residence manager. For more information call: 204-627-8518. Students with disabilities have priority.

Security Services will walk you to the bus stop, your car or to campus buildings. Call: 204-933-2627 after 4 p.m. or 204-677-6531 during the day.

Other Student Services

The Students Association at 204-677-6450 can assist you with any concerns you may have. Bring your student card to register and to obtain access to the facilities.

Library Services are provided. Students are assisted by library staff to do research, borrow books, inter-library loans, and provide information on books for upgrading. It is also a quiet place to study.

The College also offers other services such as an Aboriginal elders program, counseling, circle meetings and cultural workshops at the Mamawechetotan Aboriginal Center. For more information call: 204-677-4242.

Upgrading Your Skills

It is important to be prepared for your learning experience. If you need to upgrade your skills, University College of the North - Thompson Campus offers tutoring, assessments, assistance with study skills, computers, and career and employment support.

Tutoring services are available through the Educational Service Center. Staff provide assessments, employment support, assistance with study skills, computers and career goal planning. For more information call: 204-677-6676.

Thompson also has the Keewatin Adult Learning Center for general upgrading in all areas. Call: 204-677-6366.

Health and Recreation Services

Health Links is a valuable information line, for answers to most health questions, call: 204-788-8200.

The College offers a fully equipped gym and recreation center for students attending the college. There are free intramural team sports as well as winter activities such as cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and curling. Certified instructors offer group and drop in classes.
