Authorizations
to Practise (Hairstylist, Electrologist and Esthetician)
Other Permits and
Licenses
For the trades of Hairstylist, Electrologist and Esthetician, the Apprenticeship Branch issues an Authorization to Practise with the Certificate of Qualification. This Authorization to Practise must be renewed every two years and must be available upon request at the work site. A person cannot legally work in the Hairstylist, Electrologist or Esthetician trades without a valid Authorization to Practise.
If you are an industry practitioner with a Certificate of Qualification and an Authorization to Practise in one of these trades, the Apprenticeship Branch will send you a renewal notice, with a renewal form, prior to the expiry of your Authorization to Practise. Please ensure that the Branch is kept informed of any changes to your personal information (including name and address changes).
In some trades, you may require licenses and/or permits in addition to your Certificate of Qualification or Apprentice Pocket Card, to perform the tasks associated with your trade.
The chart below illustrates which licenses or permits you may require to practice in your trade.
