Mutual Recognition (AIT)

The Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT), ensures that qualified workers in one province/territory are granted access to similar employment opportunities in other Canadian jurisdictions.

The mutual recognition process permits individuals with an approved Certificate of Qualification from another jurisdiction to work in Manitoba in a compulsory trade.

How to Apply:
Mutual Recognition is granted if the scope of the trade has a high level of commonality with the designated trade in Manitoba. The following table outlines the trades and jurisdictions which are currently considered as a mutually recognizable and require no further application in order to work in Manitoba*. If your trade and jurisdiction are not on the list, please complete and submit the Mutual Recognition Application (there is no fee to apply)

*Important-In some compulsory trade occupations, an additional permit/license may be required.

*Note: Although a provincial/territorial Certificate of Qualification may be recognized in Manitoba, if that same trade is considered an interprovincial(Red Seal) trade in Manitoba, the provincial/territorial certificate holder has the option to challenge the interprovincial exam.
