MB Designated Trades

List of Designated Trade Programs
There are over 50 designated trades in Manitoba in which you can take apprenticeship training. All designated trades are regulated by the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act, the General Regulation and individual trade regulations.

Compulsory Trades
Nine trades require compulsory apprenticeship training, meaning that to legally work in Manitoba, you must be a registered apprentice or a certified journeyperson.

Red Seal Trades
47 trades have interprovincial or "Red Seal" status which means an assurance of quality training and certification to nationally recognized standards.

Senior Years Apprenticeship Option
Over 50 trades qualify for the SYAO option which allows students to begin their apprenticeship training while in high school.

Accredited Pre-Apprenticeship/Pre-Employment Programs
Listing of accredited trades-related courses or programs of study offered by other training institutions, high schools and community colleges.
