An "Employer of Choice" is a compay or organiztion where employees actions are directly aligned with business goals, employees, feel appreciated and valued for their hard work, and where their contributions are acknowledged and rewarded.
Many services depend on external organizations to advise on business or industry standards of training, monitor skill levels and requirements, provide recommendations or endorsements of qualifications, as well as various other employment-related activities. This cooperation is achieved through boards or committees represented by industry, business, employer or citizen membership.
To provide well-balanced services that meet the needs of learners, job seekers, educators, trainers, business, industry, employers as well as government, several partnerships have been formed. These partnerships work towards the ultimate goal of delivering a skilled, well-educated, flexible and highly productive workforce that meets the needs of Manitoba's business and industry in the global marketplace.
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is a process which captures and recognizes and individual's learning in the workplace, in the classroom and in the community. PLAR can describe competencies and help to measure performance while documenting the skills and knowledge needed for a job.
Apprenticeship is an attractive training alternative and the most cost-effective way to develop highly skilled and productive employees. Hiring apprentices and/or training present staff to be qualified journeypersons pays in many ways.
Wage incentives are available for eligible employers and business owners who contribute to the community by providing career-related employment experiences, creating new jobs, and improving the skill and literacy levels of employees.
Various programs assist employers with hiring students and youth by providing wage incentives, internships, grants, mentorships and bursary opportunities.
