Winnipeg Region Industry Sectors 2010

From 2009 to 2010, Manitoba’s Winnipeg region increased total employment by 1.4% to 370,300 employed.  The goods-producing sector decreased by -0.8% to 63,000 employed; the services sector increased by 1.8% to 307,200 employed.

In 2010, the largest goods producing industry was manufacturing with 37,600 employed.  The largest services industry was retail trade with 56,100 employed. 

Industries with largest year over year increases in employment between 2009 and 2010 included utilities - goods producing sector (5.4%) and accommodation and food - services sector (20.5%).
