Consider your participation in ...

  • Interbuild is the largest event in the United Kingdom for the construction industry

  • Interbuild attracts over 1,100 exhibitors and 44,000 visitors

  • Interbuild attracts the nation’s top contractors, architects, housebuilders and builders’ merchants along with buyers, distributors and specifiers

The High Commission of Canada in London in 2007 described the opportunities within the United Kingdom as:

Specific opportunities exist for:

“Over the last ten years, the British construction industry can be characterised as one of change. Client demands for better and faster construction combined with government demands for energy efficient and sustainable buildings is forcing the industry to rethink construction and to adopt new technologies and systems. This has not been an easy road for the traditionally conservative industry to travel. In many instances, the industry must look abroad for new ideas and innovation. This change has created a trend towards off-site production and a demand for new, innovative products that "de-skill" the construction site and meet stringent carbon emission requirements.

Canadian manufacturers are in an excellent position to supply this market now. In the long term, successful Canadian companies will have developed supply partnerships with small to medium-sized homebuilders that do not have their own manufacturing capability. Canada has been recognized by both industry and by the government in the United Kingdom as a global leader in housing technology and innovative building products. This endorsement of our industry should help many Canadian firms enter this highly competitive market.

An overview of the industry may be found in the report "Residential Housing profile-London, UK, November 2007” at http://www.infoexport.gc.ca/ie-en/DisplayDocument.jsp?did=78673

  • thermally efficient housing systems
  • pre-engineered wood frame housing
  • log and traditional timber frame homes
  • other modern methods of construction including ICF and light-weight steel-frame
  • engineered wood products such as I-joists and glulam
  • window systems including wood, wood composite and fibreglass
  • doors, particularly high-quality solid hardwood doors and steel-clad security doors
  • solid hardwood and engineered wood floors
  • lightweight roofing and siding (cladding) systems
  • mechanical ventilation systems
  • INNOVATION!

These are only some of the areas where Canada offers solutions to the challenges which the British construction industry is facing. Others include water management, renewable energy and environmental technologies.”

INTERBUILD 2008 MAJOR THEMES:
  • internal and building services
  • structural buildings
  • doors and windows
  • trucks & tools.

In 2007 over 40 Canada and Canadian companies exhibited at Interbuild 2007 with 16 firms located in the Canada Pavilion. At Interbuild 2008 there will not be a Canada Pavilion but there will be marketing activities and support provided by the Trade Commissioner of the High Commission of Canada.

Manitoba Trade and Investment will be providing assistance for a limited number of eligible firms who wish to exhibit at Interbuild by offsetting up to 50% of the cost of booth space. The assistance will be up to $4000.00 for firms who would qualify under the terms of the department’s Trade Assistance Program (TAP). The firms must be export ready and have the capacity to pursue international opportunities. Funding for approved applicants will be forwarded after the show upon proof of having exhibited at the show. Firms must also provide proof of full payment (cancelled cheque) of booth space.
