Description

Gerald W. Malaher WMA, just outside Melita, includes a walking trail and the trailhead for both the north and south routes of the Manitoba Grasslands Birding Trail. Before you head out on the Birding Trail, take a stroll through the WMA along the Dust to Diversity Trail where interpretive signs tell about Gerald Malaher and what he had in common with pioneers who settled this land.

Directions

From Melita, drive west on Provincial Road (PR) 445 to Road 158W and turn north/right, the parking lot is the first driveway on the east/right side of the road.

Cautionary Notes

Hunting is allowed in the WMA in fall; in spring you might want to avoid the long grass where the wood ticks wait.
